At this point, I don't know how I'd survive without all the layers; seen and unseen.
Believe me, if I could slip into some version of a Snuggie and hit the streets, I would. There's no shortage of bodysuits, turtlenecks, cropped knits, vests, or cocoon coats on me lately. One step further, I feel as though I've just been living under hats for at least two months, with a secret weapon; sunglasses to hide from the shade.
I don't think it's just the season that makes me want to hibernate and stay close to what really matters. Maybe the winter prompts us to consider what else is worth braving the cold for.
So far, piling on all the layers, feeling like I'm readying for the arctic tundra every time I turn onto Lorimer, has been worth it for the following (in no particular order);
Time with the family,
like Sundays at Abba's
or
escaping the city to
on Long Island.
Happy Hour
with the same old Brooklyn crew,
- 'same old', being something I appreciate most these days; preservation -
talking about the
same old shit, spilling secrets,
keeping each other honest, brave, and grounded;
because, lord knows that this city
will lift you up and tear you d o w n, just to make you realize
that there's no better time than now,
there's no place quite like here.
Coffee and croissants in the morning, buying flowers at the deli for my(own damn)self, burning sage at home, figuring out how to cook a meal for one not two, learning how to do all the heavy lifting; furniture included, but I mean more the other stuff.
Life lately,
so layered,
except
Until next time. . .
