To be fair, I don't wear much make up and I'm not claiming to apply it completely properly. All I know, is that since the 6th grade my lip gloss was poppin'. I am a true - at heart - girls, girl. I don't do much, but I love buying new beauty products, and figuring out things like how to properly shape your eyebrows, how to rock a cat-eye, or what it really means to define your cheekbones. I don't do things like get facials every week, I am a regular girl on the go, who for a time pondered the idea of spending an hour in the morning to get ready.. And, then I thought screw that! I would much rather sleep in, and keep my make up like I keep my style - no fuss. So, unlike how I apply my accessories, my thought here is that less is more.
Be You. With a capital Y.
1. Simple Replenishing Rich Moisturizer - $5.99
Moisturizer is the best thing anyone can invest in. Protecting and keeping your skin hydrated is an absolute must all year, but especially in the winter.
2. Mario Badescu Anti Acne Serum - $20
Break outs? Aint nobody got time for that! I've used Mario Badescu products for a really long time now, and they're the best. The quickest fix for any less than desirable breakout moments.
3. Aveeno Active Naturals Calming Make Up Remover Wipes - $7.99
I'm not a heavy make up kind of girl, so I jump at the chance to wipe my face clean, keep things fresh, and keep things movin'. Especially when we're on the go, traveling planes, trains, and automobiles style, these wipes are the easiest trick in the book!
4. Origins Rejuvenating Treatment - $53
I'm already trying to reverse the aging process here, OK. My 81 year old grandmother, Carmen, told me that the key to her flawless skin (and no wrinkles, FYI), has been skincare. She, if I want to look anything like my abuelita, when I'm her age, I figure it's best to listen to everything she say.. More on this to follow.
5. Rosebud Salve - $6
I've been using this since the 3rd grade, when my step mom gave it to me and I thought I was wearing lipstick.
6. Tweezerman Tweezers - $22
Dave and I are obsessed with eyebrows. And, this goes without saying I'm sure, but much like most of my girl friends, I've experienced a severely traumatic eyebrow moment. In middle school, my BFF Erin Lynn (love you!) and I tried tweezing our eyebrows behind our mothers backs. And, the only advice we had, was from our other friends older sister. "Just make sure they're even". This, was our sole advice at learning to tweeze our eyebrows at an extremely impressionable age (yikes!). I tweezed the day away and was left with virtually no eyebrows. They were vastly far apart and had no shape whatsoever. It was then that I realized two things: a mothers "because I said so" has some serious validity, and it's unwise to listen to friends about things concerning your face, when you're 12. Thank God (understatement!), I quickly learned that the shape of your eyebrows frames your entire face! And that this was not something to joke about. I've been best friends with my eyebrow lady ever since. Wax it up.
7. Black Eyeliner - $19.50
What bad bitch leaves home without it? Exactly.
8. Chanel Red Lipstick - $45
See above. But, to be serious here for a moment - I do not play around about my red lipstick!!! Ya heard. I feel naked when I don't wear it, but on the off moments when I'm rocking a nude lip, I'm just as comfortable. The importance here is investing in a red lipstick that you can eat and drink while wearing. Think along the lines of a lip stain. I'm hardcore.
9. Maybelline Mascara - $5.99
The curved brush is where it's at! So, if you're not a make up girl, you can fake it - like me - by focusing on your lashes, keeping them long and dramatic.
10. Benefit Eye Brow Pencil - $20
Lifesaver!
11. Lancome Powder - $29
Just to keep things even and light, this powder does magic all on it's own.
12. Lancome Blush - $30
All you really need is a little blush and some mascara and you look alive and ready for anything! That's my secret trick when off to early meetings, after a long night out!
