The idea of underwear as outerwear, is hardly new. And, while I'm not yet ready to wear my lace bra on top of my t-shirt, any time soon, I do live for a good slip dress. Something about it is so reminiscent of all things sexy and sleek, but the goal for me is always to find ways to grunge things up a bit. That said, for appropriate daytime attire, I decided to wrap my sweater around my waist, and throw on my favorite Topshop floppy fedora - Easy dressing 101.
If you're anything like I am, the thought of skipping out your front door in your lingerie is absolutely mortifying. I mean - mor-ti-fying. But, who can ultimately resist an attempt to sport the iconic slip dress? Surely, when in sunny LA, I had to go there.
If you're not Kate Moss and you're weary of making this sultry slip dress purchase, fret no more, because there are a few things to be mindful of before you charge this up, go home and think.. 'Why?!!'.
If you're daunted by the notion of a little slip dress during the day, take away the stress of trying this trend, by sticking with a tweed or another classic, functional texture, considering the length (below the knee is actually sexy, OK, people!), and making sure you can always adjust the straps; no nip slips here, thank you very much. Slip dresses don't have to be vampy; you'll do just fine by remembering your layers and balancing the sex appeal with something more casual, like a sweater, flannel, or oversized boyfriend coat. I don't know if I'd be able to rock out just yet in a slinky, silk number, but that might be coming soon to a blog post near you.
