A memento from my last weekend of this summer's fun.
The kind of fun that's off-the-books and just
really good.
Cover up or uncover.
Bake under the sun, dip in and out of sleep, the sea, the shower.
Some things, you just know by heart.
It tastes sweet, like only summer really could.
Ice cream as the sunsets, unbuttoning your shorts, or, maybe that was him.
Wiping off every last bit of makeup, because I've been sun kissed
and I woke up (late) like this, too.
If we knew what the years held,
would we alter our choices, take the train
at three-twenty instead of noon, walk in the rain
instead of taking the metro?
