In the spirit of Thanksgiving and paying it forward, we ran a clothing drive for a local Brooklyn shelter, The Tillary Street Women's Shelter. For a shelter with over 200 beds, we collected over 353 articles of clothing, shoes, and accessories. The least we could do.
Growing up, our parents would always ask us to donate clothing to the Goodwill, and stress the importance of community, being grateful for what you have, and sharing abundance, because after all, what else is the purpose of life, if not to share what you are truly grateful for.
We've always been bread from the thinking of "If you are truly thankful, what do you do? You share."And, to the same effect, we've become adults, living in Brooklyn, who by no means, have it all. Who does? But, the closest we've had to having it all, is to living an inclusive life, to following our spiritual journey, and believing in things like following your bliss, investing in others, and paying it forward.
This Thanksgiving, we are thankful for so many things; each other, our amazing friends that have become like family, our family! Health, the ebbs and flows of our career, and for laughter; it's kept us sane.
What are you thankful for today?!
Namaste.
